Find a five-letter word

Good first guesses
In a five-letter word game the first guess is a question, not an answer. Use a word with five different letters, most of them common in English (E, A, R, T, S, L, O, I), and the colours you get back will rule out or place more of the hidden word than any other start. These are good ones:
RAISE ARISE ALTER TRACE ROAST ALONE
Then make your second guess with five new letters, and only start aiming at the answer on the third.

Now guess one: Guesswise
Guesswise is our free five-letter word game. You get six tries to guess the hidden English word, and after each one the tiles tell you which letters are right and in the right place, which are in the word but somewhere else, and which are not in it at all. Each colour has its own shape too, so it works for colour-blind players. There are 227 puzzles and a word of the day, big letters, no timer, no account and no ads.
It is a good way to practise English: every guess has to be a real word, and you learn new ones from the answers. More word games for learning English.
