How to play with a friend on another computer or phone

  1. Open the game's page here and press Play. Nothing downloads; the game starts in the tab.
  2. Start a room. Chess, Checkers, Ludo, Tiles and Kart give you a link to send by text, email or chat. Splatbarn, the word games and Moon Life give you a short room code you can read out loud.
  3. Your friend opens the link, or types the code, in any modern browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a laptop, a Chromebook, a tablet or a phone.

There is no account at either end and no game server in the middle: the two browsers connect directly. If a room never connects, the usual cause is a very locked-down network that blocks browser-to-browser connections, typically a work VPN. Switching one device to a phone hotspot is the fix.

Questions

Can two people play these games on different computers or phones?

Yes. One of you starts a room and sends the link or reads out the room code; the other opens it in their own browser, on a laptop, a Chromebook or a phone. The two browsers connect to each other directly.

Do we need to sign up or download anything?

No. Every game runs in the browser tab. There is no account to make, nothing to install, and no ads.

What if my friend is not online right now?

Chess, checkers, ludo and Letterloft all have a computer opponent, so you can play alone and invite a person later.
